The Bharatiya Janata Party Sunday said it has taken up the issue of highway closure with governor Satya Pal Malik and “expects some leniency soon”. Expressing concern over inconvenience to people due to the highway traffic ban on Sunday, the BJP said political parties must not do politics over the issue.
“The issue needs to be addressed and people must not faceinconvenience,” BJP’s general secretary (Organisation), Ashok Kaul told GreaterKashmir. He said the party has taken up matter with governor Satya Pal Malik.”We expect some leniency soon,” he said.
There is no denying the fact that securing convoys of forcesmust be a priority but common people must also not suffer, Koul said.
Another senior BJP leader, without naming NC or PDP, said politicalparties must not make the highway ban an “election issue”.
