Highway blocked for 6 hours

A heavy landslide at Mehar ahead of Ramban town blocked traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for about six hours on Tuesday morning. However, the traffic was restored in the afternoon after the road was cleared of the debris.

The authorities deployed men and machinery to clear the debris.

Sources said a road stretch ahead of Ramban town has become prone to landslides as the hill along it has been cut for road widening.

“The traffic was restored in the afternoon and the stranded vehicles were allowed to move towards their respective destinations,” said an official of traffic police National Highway Ramban.
