Home Minister visits house of slain police officer

Union Home Minister, Amit Shah today visited the house of slain police officer Arshad Khan in Srinagar and consoled the bereaved family.

The Chief Secretary BVR Subramanyam said that the HomeMinister handed over appointment letter to the slain police officer’s wife fora job in the State government.

   

Shah took to Twitter to write about his visit. “Visited thehome of inspector Arshad Khan, SHO Anantnag, in Srinagar and offered mycondolences to the bereaved family. His sacrifice for the security of ournation has saved many lives. Entire nation is proud of Arshad Khan’s valour& courage.”

The Chief Secretary said that the Home Minister “lauded thesacrifices of brave J&K policemen” and asked the administration to ensurethat memorials are built for the slain policemen in their home towns andvillages. “The Home Minister also directed for naming prominent public placesafter the slain policemen,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Home Minister also distributed ex-gratiacheques among the next of kin of BJP activists killed in Kashmir. According toa BJP leader, five party leaders and activists were killed by gunmen in therecent past whose families have been compensated.
