Expressing his deep grief and sorrow over the unfortunate and immoral incident at SumbalBandipora, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani termed such incidents as a black stain on the social fabric and rich culture of Kashmir.
While condemning such incidents, Hurriyat chairman flayed the law enforcement institutions in Jammu and Kashmir for what he said “their unfortunate role.”
He said the bribery and a poor sense of responsibility have left the galloping crime rate unchecked “because of the disputed nature of our state”.
He, in a statement, said the “political interference” in the law enforcement institutions has infected and ruined the whole system. “Kuthua incident which has become a forgotten part of history now, is a proof in this respect.”
At Sumbal angry mob have thronged on the roads and are demanding immediate legal action, “but the police administration remains mere spectators,” Geelani said.
Making fervent appeal to the people for patience, discipline, unity and brotherhood, he stressed that the people at the same time “should pay keen attention to strengthening the Mohalla Committees to enlighten the young generation with the basic education of Quran and Sunnah, along with the modern education of science and technology.”
He also appealed to the people “to keep a constant vigil on the breeding social evils and nude fashions which have ruined our social fabric”.
