Incident a black stain on social fabric of Kashmir: Geelani

Expressing his deep grief and sorrow over the unfortunate and immoral incident at SumbalBandipora, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani termed such incidents as a black stain on the social fabric and rich culture of Kashmir.

While condemning such incidents, Hurriyat chairman flayedthe law enforcement institutions in Jammu and Kashmir for what he said “theirunfortunate role.”

   

He said the bribery and a poor sense of responsibility haveleft the galloping crime rate unchecked “because of the disputed nature of ourstate”.

He, in a statement, said the “political interference” in thelaw enforcement institutions has infected and ruined the whole system. “Kuthuaincident which has become a forgotten part of history now, is a proof in thisrespect.”

At Sumbal angry mob have thronged on the roads and aredemanding immediate legal action, “but the police administration remains merespectators,” Geelani said.

Making fervent appeal to the people for patience,discipline, unity and brotherhood, he stressed that the people at the same time”should pay keen attention to strengthening the Mohalla Committees to enlightenthe young generation with the basic education of Quran and Sunnah, along withthe modern education of science and technology.”

He also appealed to the people “to keep a constant vigil onthe breeding social evils and nude fashions which have ruined our socialfabric”.
