Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire on the line of control in Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.
A defence spokesperson said: “Pakistani troops initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along the line of control in Machil sector. Indian troops responded by targeting their forward posts precisely and effectively.”
The line of control in Kupwara district has witnessed a sharp increase in ceasefire violations this month.
