India, Pakistan repatriate 2 boys who inadvertently crossed LoC

As a goodwill gesture, the authorities of India and Pakistan on Friday exchanged two boys who had inadvertently crossed the Line of Control in the last two weeks.

The boys were repatriated, one from each side, at Chakan Da Bagh LoC crossing point in Poonch district.

   

Executive magistrate, police and army officials were present from this side.

The officials said that Mohammad Shabir (17) son of Mohammad Bashir of Mandhar village in Mohallah Kayian inadvertently crossed the LoC and moved to PaK side on 24 December after which a missing report was registered in Poonch police station.

Similarly, a boy identified as Ali Haider (14) son of Mohammad Sharief of Abbasspur of Forward Kahota tehsil of PaK was apprehended here on 31 December at Gulpur after he inadvertently crossed the LoC.

On Friday, officials added, Mohammad Shabir was repatriated by PaK authorities and handed over to this side while PaK boy Ali Haider was sent to his home by Indian authorities.

Additional SP Poonch, Khalid Amin, said that the formal repatriation took place as per devised protocol.
