Injured ISJK militant held in Anantnag

An Islamic State Jammu Kashmir militant was arrested in an injured condition on Thursday from Sirhama village of Bijbehara in Anantnag district, where his commander was found dead last night.

A police official said Arif Hussain Bhat of Fatehpora,Anantnag, had a bullet injury in his leg.

   

“He was treated at the hospital and later taken intocustody,” he said.

The militant who was found dead in mysterious circumstanceswas identified as Aadil Rehman Das of Waghama village of Bijbehara. His bodywas found in an orchard in Boniteng near Sirhama.

A source said Aadil was killed while his associate Aarif wasinjured in a group clash with LeT militants.

Aadil and Arif had joined LeT last year in July and laterswitched sides to ISJK that claims ideological affiliation with IS.

“There was some dispute between LeT and ISJK as the formerwanted them to return the weapon which belonged to their parent outfit (LeT),”a police official said.

He said Aadil did not concede to the demand, leading to aconfrontation between the two groups.

“The LeT militants also took away the weapons from both themilitants,” said a police official.

The security forces had retrieved the body of slain Aadillate in the night.

He was the commander of the ISJK that was founded by MugaisMir and Dawood Salfi of Srinagar some three years back after they parted wayswith Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen.

Aadil’s body was handed over to family in the morning forlast rites. People in huge numbers participated in his funeral amid pro-Islamslogans.

Four ISJK militants, including Khateeb Das and Zahid fromthe same village, also turned up and offered gun salute to the deceased.

In the evening, Police issued a statement to the press:”Body of one active militant was recovered from orchards in Bijbehara area ofdistrict Anantnag while another injured terrorist was arrested by a joint teamof Police and security forces from the area. Body of killed militant was handedover to the family members after completion of the medico-legal formalities.Moreover the injured militant, identified as Arif Hussain Bhat of FatheporaLarkipora Anantnag, was taken into custody and admitted to hospital where he isbeing administered medical treatment. Police have registered a case in thisregard and further investigation in the matter is going on.”
