J&K has 223 ventilators; 400 more ordered: Govt

There is no dearth of medical equipment in Jammu and Kashmir to tackle the threat of Covid19 pandemic. The Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department has refuted a news item in this regard carried by a news group today.

“The news item has been examined and the Department stronglyrefutes the news item regarding dearth of medical equipment includingventilators in the Government sector,” a statement from department said.

   

Giving details about the medical equipment, it said thatnumber of ventilators in J&K is 223 currently, of which 91 are in Jammu and132 in Kashmir and 400 more ventilators have been ordered and are beingcommissioned shortly.

As many as 8893 reagents are available for use in Jammu andKashmir which are being augmented further, it added.

The statement said that there is absolutely no dearth oflogistics and equipment and sufficient buffer stock of PPE, masks and otherprotection gear is available both at Srinagar and Jammu.

“However, keeping in view the civic efforts of various NGOsand Civil Society groups, certain amount of donations have been received as agoodwill gesture which are appreciable,” the statement added.
