J&K a sensitive place, have to strike a fine balance: LG on Lawaypora incident

Asserting that J&K was a sensitive Union Territory, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha today said that he will come up with facts about the Lawaypora incident at an appropriate time.

“I want to make clear with all responsibility that if there is any suspicion, we will definitely hold a probe. However, J&K is a sensitive place. We have to strike a fine balance between the two without compromising morale of security forces. We have to keep in mind every aspect.

“All the facts have come before me (i.e. claims of security forces as well as of family members of those killed). I am looking into the matter and on time, you will get the appropriate answer,” he told reporters here.

Speaking to media persons, Lt Governor responded to a question on the claims of the family members of the slain youth who were killed in Lawaypora Srinagar recently.

In Srinagar, these families held demonstrations demanding return of bodies of their sons for their burial as per ritual, while contesting the claims of the security forces that the three were militants.

On 4G internet restoration, the LG said, “The committee is examining the issue and you will get good news in the coming days.”

“Discrimination with Jammu,” LG Sinha said, “has become a history. No one will be discriminated against in the name of caste, creed, area, region or religion.”

On a question on revival of sick units, the LG said: “The existing industry will also get working capital if they want to run their industry.”

“We will also focus on the sports industry,” he responded to another question.
