Lifesaving drugs airlifted to Kashmir

To ensure adequate supply of life saving drugs especially anti-cancer, anti-hypertensive and anti-diabetic drugs in the Kashmir Valley in the wake of lockdown due to Coronavirus pandemic, J&K Drug and Food Control Organization (DFCO) has airlifted substantial stocks of such medicines to Srinagar. The consignment weighing about 631 Kg would be sufficient to suffice for two months.

Pertinently, these drugs have been airlifted from New Delhiunder a well-knit contingency plan amidst enforcement of lockdown to manage andcontain the spread of coronavirus.

   

The services of Air Force, Red Cross and top functionariesof J&K government have been utilized to arrange supplies of anticancerdrugs, Insulin preparations, drugs used in cardiology from the nationalcapital.

Besides, sufficient stock of all categories of medicalproducts (Pharmaceutical preparations, Medical Devices and other supportivematerials) have also been dispatched to Kashmir Valley from 38 C&Flocations belonging to reputed pharma houses located at Jammu. These dispatcheshave reached their destinations and are sufficient to meet the requirement forpharma trade and also end users.

Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education, AtalDulloo has appreciated the efforts of all the agencies which made it possiblein the given situation. He expressed satisfaction and issued instruction to theconcerned authorities to ensure that availability of these drugs and equipmentis ensured in pharmacies located in private and public sector.

He appealed the stakeholders to maintain close co-ordinationduring these difficult times and ensure that the public at large is not deniedaccess to essential drugs due to this pandemic.
