A massive search operation was carried out in several localities of Anantnag town on Saturday.
A police official said that army’s 1 RR, special operation group (SOG) of JK Police and CRPF cordoned off Lal Chowk and Dangarpora localities after receiving inputs about the presence of militants and launched searches in the wee hours.
“The searches continued throughout the day,” he said.
The police official said that door to door searches were also carried out.
“Huge contingents of forces remained deployed and the areas were sealed,” he said.
The searches were however called off late in the evening after nothing was found.
Meanwhile, a search operation was launched at Astanpora in Lasipora area of Pulwama district yesterday evening.
“The searches continued for several hours,” a police official said.
He said excavators were pressed into service and the earth was dug to find out the possibility of hideouts in the orchards.
