MILITANCY FUNDING, ACTIVITIES|MHA lens on leaders, government employees, teachers in J&K

The government of India Friday set-up a multi-disciplinary monitoring group to “ensure synergised and concerted action” against militancy financing and militancy-related activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to an official order, the “multi-disciplinaryterror monitoring group (MDTMG)” will have representatives from the Jammu andKashmir police, intelligence bureau, central bureau of investigation (CBI),national investigation agency (NIA), and the income tax department.

   

It will also take action against “hardcore sympathisersamong government employees, including teachers, who are providing covert orovert support” to militancy activities, the MHA order read.

The terms of the reference of the group will be to take”coordinated action” in all registered cases related to militancy, militancyfinancing and militancy-related activities and “bring them to logicalconclusion”, identify all “key persons, including leaders of theorganisation(s) who are involved in supporting militancy in any form and takeconcerted action against them”.

It will have to “investigate networks of various channelsbeing used to fund militancy and militancy-related activities and takecoordinated action to stop flow of such funds”.

The additional director general of police, CID, of J&K police will head the MDTMG which will meet on a weekly basis and submit their action taken report regularly, the order said.
