Police on Friday said that an unidentified militant was killed in a brief shootout at Watergam, Rafiabad here in north Kashmir.
Senior superintendent of police Sopore, Javed Iqbal toldGreater Kashmir that the militant was killed in exchange of fire with securityforces. “His body along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the site.His identity and group affiliation are being ascertained,” the SSP said.
Another police official said that militants fired upon apatrolling party of Army’s 32 RR at Watergam this evening. “The fire wasretaliated triggering a gunfight. One militant was killed while another fledaway from the spot. The search operation in the area is on,” the officialadded.
