Mob attacks Kishtwar DC’s office

A mob attacked Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Saturday  and burnt an effigy of the Governor during a protest against the government’s alleged failure to arrest the killers of RSS leader Chander Kant Sharma and Parihar brothers.

Amid a shutdown called by Sanathan Dharam, a large number ofpeople marched from Kuleed Chowk to mini secretariat, raising slogans againstthe police and the administration. They demanded transfer of the officialsinvestigating Sharma’s killing.

   

During the protest at mini-secretariat, protesters burntGovernor’s effigy and damaged the official vehicle of the Additional DistrictMagistrate (ADM) Kishtwar besides the door of the office. Paramilitary men  were called to control the mob.

Kishtwar Senior Superintendent of Police Shakti Kumar Pathaksaid a case would be registered against “those persons who took law into theirown hands”.

RSS leader Chander Kant Sharma was killed by unknown gunmenon 9 April while BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar werekilled on 1 November 2018. On the demand of the local residents, NationalInvestigating Agency took over from the police the investigation into Pariharmurders.

In Sharma murder, there has been no arrest so far, althoughthe police said one of the culprits has been identified.
