NIA arrests Pulwama man in CRPF Centre attack

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the fourth accused wanted in the attack on a CRPF camp that killed five soldiers in December 2017.

An NIA spokesman said that the accused, Syed HilalAndrabi(35), a resident of Ratnipora area of Pulwama district, is an “active OverGround Worker (OGW) of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM)”.

   

“He is a key conspirator who provided logisticalsupport in the form of sheltering the militants and conducting reconnaissanceof the CRPF Group Centre, Lethpora, before the attack,” the spokesman added.

Fayaz Ahmad Magrey, a resident of Lethpora, Awantipora;Manzoor Ahmed Bhat of Pampore and Nisar Ahmed Tantray of Dar GanaiGund, Tral,are the other three held on charges of conspiracy in the case.

The spokesman said that after Andrabi was arrested fromJammu. He was produced before the court and his five days’ police custody hasbeen obtained for “unearthing the larger conspiracy behind thisattack”.

The spokesman said the attack on the centre on the night of30 December 2017 was carried by three JeM militants—Fardeen Ahmad Khandey sonof GhulamMohideenKhandey resident of Nazeempora, Tral; Manzoor Baba son of AliMuhammad Baba resident of Drubgam, Pulwama, and Abdul Shakoor a resident ofRawalakot area of Pakistan administered Kashmir.
