NIA conducts raids in Srinagar, Budgam

The National Investigation Agency Wednesday carried out searches at four places in Srinagar and Budgam districts.

A statement issued by NIA said, “Searches were carried outat four places in connection with the investigation of case RC-28/2018/NIA/DLIin Budgam and Srinagar. The searches were conducted at the house of BakhtiyarMujeev Mullaha at Rajbagh area, Srinagar, and at the houses of Zahoor AhmedSheikh, Bashir Ahmad Sheikh and Muhammad Afzal Mir in Budgam.”

   

The NIA teams were accompanied and supported by the teams ofCRPF and J&K Police, it said.

“During searches, NIA teams seized incriminating documents,including photographs of militants and electronic devices-5 mobile phones, 1laptop, 1 hard disk, memory card, SIM card and some pen drives. The connectedpersons in the case are being questioned by NIA,” the statement added.

The NIA had filed a case under the Unlawful ActivitiesPrevention Act (UAPA) last year after taking cognisance of an FIR registeredagainst alleged operative Munid Hamid Bhat at a police station in Kulgam.Bhat was arrested, the spokesperson said, for”subversive activities” who was motivating youth to join LeT and wasallegedly organising their travel to Pakistan for arms training on the basis ofvalid travel documents on recommendation of separatist leaders based in thevalley.
