NIA court releases Kashmiri student

The National Investigation Agency court in Mohali Tuesday released a Kashmiri student who was arrested in connection with an attack in Jalandhar last year, officials said.

Danish Rehman Sofi was released after the probe agencyfailed to produce any evidence against him in the court, they said.

   

Sofi was arrested in October last year.

Reportedly, the Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir police hadclaimed to have busted a militant module in Jalandhar in October 2018 byarresting some Kashmiri students, who were allegedly linked to the Al-Qaidaoffshoot Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH).

The police had also claimed to have recovered two weapons, including an assault rifle, and some explosives from their possession.
