NIA raids multiple houses in Srinagar, Baramulla

The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday carried out raids at multiple places in Srinagar and Baramulla districts.

In a statement, NIA said that on Tuesday it conducted searches at multiple locations in Baramulla-Uri and one location in Srinagar in connection with Hizbul Mujahideen militant Naveed Babu case and cross-LoC trade case.

In Hizbul Mujahideen case, the statement said that houses of close associates of accused Tariq Mir resident of Maldera, Shopian, who was arrested by NIA on 29.04.2020 were searched.

Those whose houses were searched are Azad Ahmad Pir resident of Dardkote, Uri, Haleema Begum resident of Boniyar, Baramulla, Shaheen Lone resident of Kanispora, Baramulla, working as an Inspector in Power Development Department. His father-in-law’s house at Waza Mohalla, Palhalan, Baramulla, was also searched, Shareen Bibi wife of accused Tariq Mir resident of Chinad, Baramulla, Tafazul Parimoo resident of Rehmatabad, Hyderpora, Budgam.

“Several incriminating documents and digital devices have been seized during these searches,” the NIA said.

The statement said the instant case was registered on 11.01.2020 when two HM militants viz. Naveed Babu and Rafi Ahmad Rather were apprehended along with now-suspended J&K Police DSP Devender Singh and one Irfan Shafi Mir @ Advocate by J&K Police at Al-Stop Naka, Qazigund.

Searches were also carried out at the premises of the following traders in connection with alleged illegalities in LoC trade case: Peer Arshid Iqbal @ Ashu son of Pir Gayas-ud-Din resident of Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla, currently lodged in Kathua jail, Jammu, in a narcotics case; Tariq Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Hamid Sheikh resident of Tawheed Gunj, Baramulla, Prop. of M/s Sheikh Brothers and M/s Hamid Brothers, Baramulla, currently in Baramulla jail in a narcotics case; Bashir Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din resident of Khwajabagh, Baramulla District level Hurriyat leader; Abdul Hamid Lone son of Abdul Razaq Lone resident of Gundpura, Sopore – M/s Asha Traders, Wugub, Sopore, the NIA said.
