No congregational Friday prayers for 2nd week

In view of coronavirus outbreak, there were no congregational Friday prayers across Kashmir for the second week today as people and masjid managements preferred home prayers as a means of social distancing.

Among the biggest masjids where prayers were not offeredinclude Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid, the Hazratbal masjid, Naqshband Sahib,Dastgeer Sahib, Chrari Sharif and Imam Baras.

   

Along with the Jamia Masjid management, Kashmir’s GrandMufti and Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith, one of the largest socio-religious bodies, havedecided to suspend congregational prayers to arrest the spread of the deadlyCovid-19.

Reports reaching here from north, south and central Kashmirsaid that no Friday congregational prayers were held.

Meanwhile, restrictions on the movement and assembly ofpeople were tightened across the valley today. The roads remained sealed andbarriers were erected by police and paramilitary forces to check the movementof people.
