Only 1 family able to receive their kin in UP jail

So far only one family from Kashmir has been able to receive their kin in Uttar Pradesh who was detained there under Public Safety Act.

On Tuesday, J&K government had revoked PSA detention ordersagainst 41 Kashmiris lodged in various jails across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

   

Hundreds of Kashmiris including political leaders, tradeleaders, lawyers, activists, youths were arrested around August 5, 2019, whenthe central government revoked the special constitutional position of Kashmir.

“We the family members of the detainees who are lodged indifferent jails outside Kashmir appeal the authorities to release our kin,” adelegation of the family members said here.

“Coronavirus is like a plague and can reach anywhere, injails also. We are worried as the deadly virus is spreading,” the families saidadding that they are extremely worried about the health condition of their kin.

The delegation said that they are unable to meet or talk totheir kin due to the travel ban.

The UP jail authorities said that they have received therelease orders of some persons on Wednesday.

“So far one family approached us and took their kin,” UPAdditional Director General of Police, Prisons, Sharad Kumar told the GreaterKashmir.

“It is (written) in the order that we have to hand over themto legal heirs,” Kumar said.

Among those whose detention has been revoked, 24 are in Agracentral jail, 6 in Ambedkar Nagar district jail, 3 in central jail Varanasi, 2in Bareilly and 1 in the Naini Prayagraj central jail. Three inmates are inHaryana jails.
