Unidentified gunmen shot at and injured a Peoples Democratic Party worker in this south Kashmir district on Monday evening.
A police official said that the gunmen opened fire on LateefAhmad Shah son of Ghulam Muhammad Shah at his native village of Mitrigam ataround 7 pm.
Shah sustained injuries in his abdomen and was immediatelyshifted to district hospital Pulwama from where he was sent to Srinagar, giventhe grave nature of his injuries, said the official.
He said that Shah was in his orchard when the assailantsattacked him. The official said that Shah was an active member of the PeoplesDemocratic Party.
Meanwhile, PDP in a tweet strongly condemned the attack onShah. “Attacking political workerswho dedicate their lives to the cause of serving common masses is anunfortunate act”, the party tweeted.
