PDP worker shot at in Kulgam

Suspected militants Sunday late evening shot at and critically injured a PDP worker in Zungalpora village of Devsar in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

The injured has been identified as 69-year-old MuhamadIsmail Bhat.

   

“Bhat was shot at by the gunmen at his home,” KulgamSuperintendent of Police Gurindar Pal Singh told Greater Kashmir.

He said Bhat was shifted to the district hospital Kulgam andlater to SKIMS in a critical condition.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) KulgamDrFazilKochak said, he(Bhat) had two firearm injuries one in his abdomen and another in the shoulder.

A PDP leader from Kulgam said that Bhat was associated withthe party and had also been its polling agent in the LokSabha elections.

Earlier, just a few days after the elections forAnantnagLokSabha seat were concluded, two PDP workers were abducted from theirchemist shop at Zainapora area in Shopian and later shot at and injured. One ofthem later succumbed to his injuries in SKIMS.

Meanwhile, following the incident, the entire areas werecordoned off and search launched to nab the assailants.
