‘People are fed up with NC, PDP’

Traditional political parties in Kashmir are crumbling and are on their way out, the Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone said on Sunday. Talking to Greater Kashmir after addressing a meeting of party workers in Rezan area of Kangan constituency in Ganderbal district—a stronghold of National Conference—Sajad said the traditional parties “won’t survive any longer”.

“The National Conference is crumbling all across. People are fed up with these traditional parties, which are now crumbling and are on their way out,” he said. Lone said that people give preference to new faces now.  Earlier, addressing his party workers, he said there are “growing rumblings of discontent with two traditional parties”.

“Now people of the state are yearning for a change, they want an alternative to NC and PDP to take the state towards peace and prosperity,” he said. “Change would mean sending new people, those outside the influence and domain of these traditional families, to the Parliament,” he said. Lone said his party will work to come up to the expectations of the people.  “We don’t want common people to face any problems. Our party workers are representatives and role models of the party.

You must work hard to reach out to the people and bring them into the party fold,” he told the party workers, and urged him to “listen to the grievances of the people and keep the party high command informed”.
