A policeman was killed in a militant attack in Frisal area of Yaripora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.
The slain cop, identified as head constable Muhammad Amin Bagad of Sangarwani Pulwama was posted in Frisal police post.
A police official said that militants firing at a naka party at Frisal Chowk at around 5:15 pm.
“The head constable received bullet injury and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead on arrival,” he said.
The doctors said he had a bullet wound in the head.
Soon after the attack the security forces cordoned off the area and launched searches to nab the attackers.
A police official said that a case has been launched and investigations taken up.
