Poonch youth arrested at Jammu Airport for militancy links: Police

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Mukesh Singh, today said that police have arrested a youth on his return from Kuwait at Jammu Airport for his alleged links with militant outfits.

The arrested youth has been identified as Sher Ali resident of Dhargloon, Mendhar, in district Poonch.

   

“The arrested youth was the main coordinator and facilitator of activities of various militant groups involving facilitating infiltration of militants, smuggling of arms and ammunition,” the IGP said.

He said Mushtaq Ahmed (father of Sher Ali) and Raskeem Akhter (sister of Sher Ali) were arrested on September 11, 2020.

The IG said that they have arrested five alleged Over Ground Workers (OGWs) who were working in the militant network led by Sher Ali.

Those arrested are Mustafa resident of Kandi Galuta, Muhammad Yaseen resident of Dabbi Balakote, Younis and Irfan.
