Restrictions continue for 10th day

While police have started a massive drive to book the violators of Covid19 lockdown in Kashmir, strict restrictions continued on the 10th consecutive day on Saturday.

Police and paramilitary forces have sealed most of the roadsby erecting barricades to enforce the lockdown. Only the people associated withessential services were allowed to move after their passes were checked bypolicemen and paramilitary managing the check posts.

   

Markets across the valley are shut, transport off the roadsand train services remain suspended.

Educational institutions, public places includinggymnasiums, parks, clubs and restaurants were shut down more than a week beforethe lockdown announced by the Prime Minister.Shops selling essentialcommodities were allowed to open in the morning.

Officials said that police booked several people for defyingthe prohibitory orders and organising the Friday prayers yesterday. InGanderbal and Shopian districts, police lodged an FIR against several peoplefor gathering to offer Friday prayers in the main mosques. The police arrestedsix persons from Hajin area in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district for defyingprohibitory orders.
