Restrictions continue for 17th day in Kashmir

The restrictions on the movement and assembly of people continued for 17th day across the valley on Saturday even as vigil has been intensified on areas declared as red zones.

Officials here said that to stop any further spread ofCOVID19 they have tightened the vigil around declared red zones.

   

“We are not allowing any inward and outward movement of anyperson from red zones,” officials said, warning of stern action againstviolators as per provision of relevant Acts.

The government has said that several areas surroundinglocations of Covid19 cases or untraced contact cases had to be sealed in Jammu,Srinagar, Pulwama, Shopian and Rajouri in the interest of controlling spread ofthe dreaded disease. In central Kashmir, Mehjoor Nagar, Natipora, Lal Bazar,Eidgah and Shalteng in Srinagar; Chadoora in Budgam district and Wakura inGanderbal have been declared as red zones.

In northern Kashmir, officials said 20 villages includingParray Mohala Hajin, Chandergeer Hajin, Batagund Hajin in Bandipora have beendeclared as red zones.

In southern Kashmir, Gudoora, Chandgam, Pinglena, Parigam,Abhama, Sangerwani and Khaigam in Pulwama; Sedew and Ramnagri in Shopian havebeen declared red zones to the prevent spread of the coronavirus.

Officials here said that the restrictions on the movementand assembly of people continued on Saturday. They said that the authoritiestightened the curbs across the valley as more positive cases were detected.

The police and paramilitary forces have sealed off all theroads in Kashmir and erected barriers to check the movement of people.
