Restrictions continue in Kashmir

Restrictions on the movement and assembly of people continued in Kashmir on Sunday in a bid to contain any further spread of coronavirus.

The authorities tightened the curbs across the valley asmore positive cases were detected on Saturday.

   

The police and paramilitary forces have sealed the roads anderected barriers to check the movement of people.

The markets across the valley are shut and transport off theroads.

Essential services, including healthcare personnel, areexempted from the restrictions.

The administration has urged people for cooperation andwarned them of action for violating the prohibitory orders.

Restrictions were first imposed in many parts of the valleyon last Thursday to contain the spread of the virus. The measures were takenafter a 67-year-old woman from the Khanyar area of the city, who had returnedfrom Saudi Arabia on March 16 after performing Umrah, tested positive forCOVID19.
