‘Security measures in place to thwart militant attack’

The Centre is unlikely to scrap the Article 35A— which allows the Jammu and Kashmir legislature to define “permanent resident” of the state— immediately,  sources said.

They said that at present Ministry of Home Affairs isfocusing on major input about the possible militant attack in the Valley andsecurity measures are being put in place to thwart any such attempt.

   

The source said that the government has proposed four moreBills to be brought in Rajya Sabha during the last three days of the budgetsession of the Parliament which ends on 7 August . “The four proposed Bills areJammu and Kashmir Reservation 2nd (Amendment) Bill, the Dam Safety Bill, theChit Fund Amendment Bill and the Supreme Court Judges Bill,” the source added.
