'Security measures in place to thwart militant attack'

The Centre is unlikely to scrap the Article 35A— which allows the Jammu and Kashmir legislature to define “permanent resident” of the state— immediately,  sources said.

They said that at present Ministry of Home Affairs is focusing on major input about the possible militant attack in the Valley and security measures are being put in place to thwart any such attempt.

The source said that the government has proposed four more Bills to be brought in Rajya Sabha during the last three days of the budget session of the Parliament which ends on 7 August . “The four proposed Bills are Jammu and Kashmir Reservation 2nd (Amendment) Bill, the Dam Safety Bill, the Chit Fund Amendment Bill and the Supreme Court Judges Bill,” the source added.
