Security forces Tuesday intensified searches in Lolab forests of Kupwara district after a brief exchange of fire with militants.
A police official said that based on specific information about the presence of militants in the forests, security forces cordoned the area and launched searches.
“Initially there was a brief exchange of fire with militants, however after that there has been no contact. The searches are on,” SP Kupwara, Shri Ram Ambarkar said.
