Sudhanshu Panday, Arun Kumar Mehta empanelled as Secretaries in Central Govt

Government of India has empanelled two IAS officers of J&K Cadre to hold Secretary level posts in the Central Government.

The Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) gave clearance tothe proposal of empanelment of Sudhanshu Panday (1987 batch) and Arun KumarMehta (1988 batch) as Secretaries in the Government of India among a total of34 IAS officers of 1987-88 batches.

   

Mehta returned to Jammu and Kashmir from central deputationafter imposition of Governor Rule in 2018. Pandey – on central deputation – isholding charge as Joint Secretary Commerce.

Of the 10 senior most IAS officers of Jammu and Kashmir,only three – Principal Commissioner Finance, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, PrincipalSecretary Home Shaleen Kabra and Principal Commissioner Health and MedicalEducation Atul Dulloo – are serving in Jammu and Kashmir.

The other seven including Sudanshu Panday, Sandeep KumarNayak, Shantamanu, Pradeep Kumar Tripathi, BR Sharma are serving in the UnionGovernment.

A total of 34 IAS officers have been empanelled forSecretary level posts at Centre from across the country from the cadre of1987-88. Six IAS officers are from Gujarat cadre, three each from UttarPradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, two each from Himachal Pradesh, Jammuand Kashmir, Assam-Meghalaya, Harayana, Tamil, Nadu, and one each from AndhraPradesh, Kerala, Karanataka, Nagaland, Punjab, Uttarakhand, West Bengal,Rajasthan and Jharkhand.
