A massive traffic jam was witnessed between Ramban and Banihal on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway even as only one-way traffic was allowed on the highway today.
The vehicles remained stuck in the jam at various places in Ramban.
Earlier, a landslide halted the movement of the vehicles for over three hours at a construction site near Ramsu.
Police said men and machinery were pressed into service by the contractor company for clearing the highway. “It took more than three hours to clear the highway,” they said.
Sources said that even after clearing the landslide from the road, massive traffic jams were witnessed at several places on the highway.
Officials at Traffic Control Unit, National Highway Ramban said that traffic jams were witnessed at various places due to the heavy rush of vehicles.
