After the government restricted civilian traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, unprecedented traffic jams have become an order of the day, commuters said on Thursday.
“While the authorities have modified the bi-weekly ban, restricting it to Sundays only, unprecedented traffic jams on the highway are making people suffer,” the travelers said.
On Thursday, vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the National Highway from Monkey Morh to Ramban, Ramban to Chanderkote and Anokhifall to Ramsu.
“The traffic jams wreak havoc. It takes several hours to commute a few kilometers,” the commuters complained, alleging that the concerned authorities have “miserably failed” in regulating traffic.
At some stretches of the NH-44 , commuters and drivers were seen regulating traffic as policemen were missing.
