The 65-year old man who died due to COVID-19 on Thursday in Srinagar was originally from Sopore in north Kashmir and was laid to rest in his hometown as per protocol for such casualties.
As his body reached Sopore in the afternoon, Islamic clericsurged people to follow the government guidelines on funeral.
Only a few close relatives of the deceased were allowed totake part in his funeral while wearing the protection suits.
