Water scheme damaged in Gurez

Incessant rains on Wednesday triggered flash floods in north Kashmir’s Gurez valley causing damage to a water supply scheme and blocking a road.

An official said that the incessant rains triggered flash floods in Khandyal village in Gurez which washed off a water supply scheme, and a road in Burnai village leading towards Tulail got blocked for several hours.

   

Sub-divisional magistrate Gurez, Mudasir Ahmad told Greater Kashmir that the road near Burnai was blocked due to rockslides and the BRO was removing the roadblocks.

He said, so far only Khandyal village here witnessed flash floods due to which a water supply scheme was damaged.

The officer said that the overall situation in the region was in control and no loss to life was reported so far.

He said Bandipora-Gurez road was also open for traffic.
