Worst traffic jam on highway

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway Tuesday saw worst traffic jam in Ramban district even as only one-way traffic was allowed on the road on the second of its reopening today.

Sources said that vehicles and load carriers laden with essential goods were permitted to move towards Jammu. The LMVs were also permitted to ply on the highway.

   

The drivers, passengers and commuters complained of worst traffic jams in Ramban district along the highway. They alleged poor traffic regulation by traffic police.

Hundreds of vehicles remained struc in the traffic jams at various places between Udhampur to Chenani and Nashri and Ramsu, sources said.

The drivers and commuters also alleged that the unplanned earth cutting by contractor companies engaged by National Highway Authority of India has narrowed road stretches at various places thereby adding to the traffic jams.
