Hours after three suspected militants who fired at a police party fled from Jhajjar Kotli village in Nagrota area police issued a look out notice, claiming three militants aged between 18 and 22 years were on the run.

“Two of them were carrying automatic weapons while one had in his possession a pistol. One of them was wearing a pathan suit. And all of them were carrying pithus on their shoulder,” the police notice said.

People have also been advised to contact police in case they see any suspects in their areas, promising a reward and protection of identity of the informer.

“Anyone if happens to see them or have any knowledge about them should inform police on SSP PCR Jammu number 7006690780. He would be suitably rewarded.”

Security has been tightened along the Jammu-Srinagar highway and Jammu district in particular.

In view of frequent checking of vehicles entering Jammu district, traffic movement has been badly affected in some of the city areas particularly in old city.

Vivek Gupta, the Jammu city police chief told Greater Kashmir all the check points on the highways as well as along approach roads have been put on high alert.

“We’ve identified all the vulnerable spots where the militants could be hiding. We’re dominating them,” Gupta said.

“Different wings of the police have also been asked to work in synergy to ensure smooth movement of the vehicles on the roads.”
