The joint resistance camp on Wednesday extended shutdown and protest programme for ‘right to self-determination’ till September 8.

On Friday (September 2), the leadership including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, have called for ‘tehsil-level Azadi march, asking people to “join it from every mohalla, village and locality towards their respective Tehsil Headquarters and offer Friday prayers there.” On this day, they said, there will be no relaxation in shutdown.

On Saturday (September 3) and Sunday (September 4), they have appealed to people to “occupy Srinagar Airport road, Lal Chowk and District Headquarters from 9 am to 6 pm.”

“Protest with flags, banners and placards with messages ‘We want freedom’ and ‘Go India Go Back’, offer Zuhr and Asr prayers on roads and play Islamic and Azadi ‘taranas’ in Masjids throughout the day, especially along Srinagar Airport road,” the leaders said in a joint statement. On these two days, there will be relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am.

On Monday (September 5), the leaders have asked people to hold ‘One-Day Azadi Convention’ from 11 am to 4 pm in respective areas, deliberate and discuss ways and means to strengthen the ongoing movement for right to self-determination.” On this day, they said, there will be no relaxation in shutdown.

On Tuesday (September 6), the leaders have asked women to hold protests. “Assemble and occupy local chowks and centers from Zuhr to Asr in vicinity of your mohallas, villages and localities, and protest peacefully,” they said. On this day, there will be relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am.

On Wednesday (September 7), people have been asked to “occupy highway and inter-district roads.”

“Assemble and occupy highway from Banihal to Salambad Uri and all other inter-district roads from 11 am to 4 pm, and offer Nimaz-e-Zuhr on roads.” On this day, there will be relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am.

On Thursday (September 8), the resistance camp has urged people to obsefve ‘Graffiti Day’.

“Paint all roads, lanes, walls, post and polls, with resistance slogans; offer Zuhr prayer on roads and protest from Zuhr to Asr,” the leaders said, adding: “On this day, there will be relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am.”

The joint resistance camp has also asked people to hold protests across Jammu and Kashmir. “Shutdown across J&K on all days except the relaxation mentioned in the program.  Lockdown all the routes entering your mohallas, villages and localities by every means during night to protect people in general and youth in particular from the raids and arrests by Indian forces and J&K police,” they said.

“Play Islamic and Azadi taranas from Magrib to Isha on every day.  Paste this protest program poster on entrance of every Masjid, in market places, Mohallas and local Chowks,” the statement said.
