A woman foiled an attempt to chop off her braid in Habber village of Khag tehsil of central Kashmir's Budgam district on Sunday.

Locals told Greater Kashmir on phone from Khag that an unidentified man attacked a thirty-year-old woman (name withheld) at her house today morning.

However, the woman raised an alarm forcing the attacker to flee.

Locals alleged that army men from a nearby camp helped the attacker to escape from the village.

They said that army men even disallowed them to hold a protest against the attack.

When contacted, a senior police officer of the district said: "We are verifying the reports," he said.
