Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) led by Dr Suhail Naik on Friday welcomed the Letter of Permission (LOP) given to Govt Medical college Anantnag (GMC-A) and Govt Medical college Baramulla (GMC-B) by Medical council of India (MCI) for starting admissions to 100 MBBS seats in each college from the current Academic session.
In a statement here Dr Naik said that “Letter of Permission (LOP) for starting the admission to MBBS courses for other New Government Medical Colleges of Kathua, Rajouri and Doda is also expected in days.”
Dr Owais H Dar, General secretary DAK (S), termed that addition of 400 plus odd seats a historic move and said it will be the turning point in Medical Education history and delivery of medicare services in the hilly state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The doctor’s body thanked Governor’s Advisor, K Vijay Kumar and Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education, Attal Dullo for their tremendous and dedicated role in achieving this historic feat. DAK also thanked the crucial role played by Director Coordinator New Medical Colleges, Dr Yashpal Sharma and, Principals and Medical Superintendents of new medical colleges and associated hospitals without whom it would have not been possible.
“We are hopeful that new Medical Colleges and Associated hospitals will emerge as hub of Medical studies with delivery of best Medicare facilities for public at large,” the statement added.
