Advisor Kumar visits SMGS Hospital, takes appraisal of healthcare facilities

Advisor to the Governor, K Vijay Kumar, along with the senior officials from the health department, today visited SMGS Hospital, Shalamar, and took stock of the of healthcare facilities available for the patients.  

Principal Secretary, Health, Atal Dulloo, Principal, Medical College Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina, Administrator, Associated Hospitals Jammu, Smita Sethi, MD NHM, Bhupinder Kumar, Medical Superintendent, SMGS, doctors and other senior officers of health department were present at the hospital during the visit.

   

The Advisor took round of various units including Labor Rooms, Recovery Wards, Critical Care Unit, PICU, NICU and other wards in the hospital.

He was briefed by the Medical Superintendent of the hospital about the healthcare facilities and available infrastructure including necessary life-saving equipments and other machinery required for treatment.

During the visit, hospital management and other concerned officers also discussed the hospital infrastructure development plan so as to deal with the increasing number of patients’ inflow.

The Advisor asked the MD NHM to take up the works which can be funded through their programme for the overall development of the hospital.

He also discussed in detail various issues needed to be addressed immediately for ensuring best healthcare facilities to the patients.

Directing the hospital management for putting in sincere efforts to create patient friendly atmosphere, the Advisor said that every patient coming to the hospital should be given best possible medical treatment.

While visiting the various units at the hospital, he was briefed by the concerned unit in-charge about its functioning and facilities available there.

At the Critical Care Unit, the Advisor was apprised of the availability of life saving machinery along with the concerned doctors and other staff.

Existing strength of doctors and para-medical staff deputed at the hospital was also discussed.

It was informed that the issue of shortage of human resource would be resolved soon and adequate arrangements would be made in this regard.
