Dr Tariq Qureshi, professor of ophthalmology at Government Medical College Srinagar has received award for excellence in trauma care at the recently held Ocular TraumaCON 2018 at Chennai.
The award was given to Dr Qureshi “in recognition of his contribution and commitment to the care of ophthalmic trauma”. He also received award for best poster presentation at the conference held at Chennai last week.
Dr Tariq is a well known ophthalmologist of Kashmir who heads the department of ophthalmology at the medical college. He has been pivotal in improving the facilities for optho care in Valley, major among them being addition of vitreo-retinal unit to the hospital. Before this facility, hundreds of patients had to go outside the state for vitreo-retinal surgeries.
