Residents of Kachawardi area in Khansahib tehsil Sunday urged the health department authorities to post a lady doctor to the primary health centre.
The residents had recently locked the PHC as a mark ofprotest against the non-availability of the lady doctor at the PHC Kachawardi.
The residents said although a lady doctor had been posted tothe health facility way back in 2001, “but the official never joined.”
A delegation of the residents said the female patients fromthe area are perforce referred to sub-district hospital Khansahib or districthospital Budgam due to non-availability of the lady doctor at the hospital.
According to the delegation, the PHC serves to about tenthousand population. “It is centrally located and receives patients fromRaithan, Wathrad, Dalbal, Freslab, Branwar and other distant backward hamlets,”they said.
“The health department needs to post a lady doctorimmediately to the PHC or else we would be forced to project our demand to thegovernor J&K,” they said.
