OPD services in non-COVID hospitals to resume soon: Atal Dulloo

All the Out Patient Department (OPD) services would get fully-functional in non-COVID hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir soon, Financial Commissioner, health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo said on Saturday.

“The OPD services will resume their full operations in non-COVID hospitals across J&K in coming days. However, we are starting it from GMC Jammu,” Dulloo said. He said that the hospitals having separate COVID care facilities will also make their OPDs functional in a phased manner. “We are observing the situation in view of COVID19,” he added.

The OPD services at Government Medical College and Hospital, Bakshi Nagar, would get fully-functional from January 4. Similar services would be resumed in other hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir gradually, he said.

Meanwhile, the Principal, GMC Jammu, Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma has issued orders for fully operationalizing OPD service in the hospital from January 4, 2021. “It is subject to compulsory wearing of masks and adherence to the social distancing and hand hygiene norms,” reads the order on opening of 100 percent OPD services.

According to Dr Shashi, during the periodic review of the health services at GMC and Associated Hospitals in Jammu, it was found that OPD of different facilities has drastically reduced because of the COVID-19 precautions and restrictions imposed for mitigation of the deadly virus.
