BJP offers Christians in poll-bound Nagaland free trips to Jerusalem

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is offering Christians free trips to Jerusalem to woo them to vote for the party in poll-bound north eastern state of Nagaland.

While the Congress, seeking a revival in the Christian-dominated State, has promised subsidy for the trip, BJP is offering free trips to the Holy-Land, reported The Hindu.

“We plan to send groups of senior Christian citizens to Jerusalem if our party comes to power,” Nagaland BJP spokesperson James Vizo was quoted as having said, in the report.

88 percent population in Nagaland is Christian.

“The BJP has made an election promise to send Christians to Jerusalem on a free trip, if elected to power in Nagaland,” tweeted news outlet WeTheNagas.

Three northeastern states – Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura – are going to polls later this month.
