Stop writing love letters: Cong to PM Modi on Pak Day greetings

The Congress on Saturday took a swipe at Prime MinisterNarendra Modi for sending best wishes to his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khanon the eve of the neighbouring country’s national day.

   

Official sources said Friday Modi sent a letter to Khan,greeting people of Pakistan on the eve of its National Day and highlighting theimportance of a terror-free South Asia.

Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala reminded Modiof his own words asking him to stop writing “love letters” toPakistan and alleged that his “muscular politics” is aimed at onlythe people and the media.

The attack came after Modi sent his best wishes to Khan onthe Pakistan National Day, which is celebrated to mark the Lahore Resolution onMarch 23 each year.

The Congress leader also tweeted, “Modi ji, Stopwriting this Love Letter to Pakistan”.

He posted a video of Modi’s interview to a channel whereModi during the UPA time is saying Pakistan needs to be talked to in thelanguage it understands and that writing love letters to it should be stopped.

He was referring to then prime minister Manmohan Singh’sletter to then Pakistan President.

According to the External Affairs Ministry, India hasdecided to boycott a reception at the Pakistan High Commission here to markPakistan’s National Day as several separatists leaders from Jammu and Kashmirhave been invited to the event.
