Visa denial: PDP leader says ‘haven’t received any official communication’

Hours after a media report said Pakistan has denied him a visa, Chief Spokesperson of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Naeem Akhtar clarified he has not received any official communication on whether his application has been rejected or not.

Hours after a media report said Pakistan has denied him a visa, Chief Spokesperson of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Naeem Akhtar clarified he has not received any official communication on whether his application has been rejected or not.

"I want to clarify that it was an invitation extended by the Jinnah Institute through the Centre for Development and Resolution (CDR) headed by Sushoba Bharve. It was planned we should go to Pakistan on February 25," Mr Akhtar was quoting as saying by NDTV.

Earlier, a Delhi-based newspaper had claimed that Akhtar was denied a visa.

"I have also read in the newspaper about this visa denial, but I have not received anything officially. The visa issue was being handled by the organisers," he said.

PDP is presently engaged in negotiations with the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party to form government in India's only Muslim majority state.

PDP emerged as the largest party in the assembly polls concluded in December last year, followed by the BJP.
