Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD), Smriti Zubin Irani has pledged every possible support to Central University of Kashmir to bring it at par with the best universities of the country.

Irani assured CUK officiating Vice Chancellor, Prof Mehraj Uddin Mir that HRD Ministry will provide every possible support to the varsity to ensure that it emerges as leading University in the country to serve the people at large.

Prof Mir briefed Irani about the academic achievements of the University and apprised her about the role of faculty, scholars and the students in improving the quality teaching-learning process and research. 

She was also informed that admission in all the programmes of UG, PG and research takes place through CUCET and the University has been in a position to attract students from out-side the State as well. 

The issues regarding choice based credit system, updating of curriculum, innovations, University-community linkage and involvement of industry for quality research, curriculum updates and placement avenues were also discussed.

Prof Mir further communicated that in the absence of the functioning of its own campuses, the CUK is operating in five rented buildings that were inundated in the September floods.
