Although it may take some time, but it has been agreed upon that the issues will be resolved.
Amid hectic developments taking place over formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Monday said the issues concerning West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs) will be on the agenda of new government.
“On humanitarian grounds, we have decided to solve all the long pending issues of West Pak Refugees, and it will be very much part of the new government’s agenda,” reliable sources within the BJP informed Greater Kashmir.
“Although it may take some time, but it has been agreed upon that the issues will be resolved”, they added.
“Whatever has not been done in all these 67 years, will now be done by the new government and the West Pak Refugees residing in the state will be granted all rights,” BJP National Executive Member and newly elected MLA, Dr Nirmal Singh said. “I can’t say whether it is a part of Common Minimum Programme (CMP) or not but I can certainly say with authority that the West Pak Refugees will be given all rights,” Dr Singh reiterated.
“During discussions with PDP, more than the issue of Chief Minister, the issues of the WPRs were of concern to our party”, a senior leader of the BJP said.
PDP Chief Spokesman, Naeem Akhter, in a statement yesterday had stated, “Any decision on the issue can only be taken by the state legislature, and that too only under the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.”
