Travel on highway worse than a nightmare

Travelling on the Srinagar-Jammu highway is worse than anightmare. The expansion work on the highway from Banihal to Ramban has turnedthis stretch vulnerable and dangerous.

To add insult to injury of commuters, traffic policemen manningdifferent segments of the highway from Srinagar to Udhampur have been milkingthe vehicle drivers on one pretext or the other. They allow traffic movementfrom either side due to which traffic jams have become a regular feature on thehighway.

On last Tuesday last we were sent back from Jawahar Tunnelas we refused to meet the illegitimate demands of the men in blue.

The Jammu and Kashmir Governor and Inspector General ofPolice-Traffic need to take a serious note of the problems travelers are facingon this highway. It took us five hours from Srinagar to reach the northern endof the tunnel as at every traffic naka we were stopped unnecessarily even as itwas the down traffic on the day. We were astonished to see vehicles coming fromthe opposite side when no such up movement was supposed to take place on thatday.

Abolish bonafide certificate rule

We the candidates who have completed our degrees fromoutside state universities appeal Services Selection Board authorities toabolish the rule to obtain bonafide certificates from universities.

Once a candidate is selected by the SSB his/her credentialsare verified again by the concerned department. What is the use of bonafidecertificate if the credentials are checked again. This formality wastes thetime and money of candidates. We hope JKSSB will look into the matter andabolish this rule, which is not applicable in any other state except Jammu andKashmir.

Allow contractual lecturers to continue

This is in response to the recent order issued by the StateAdministrative Council (SAC) about granting extension to 2018 contractuallecturers working at plus two level. As per the government order contractuallecturers would get the benefit up to 30 June 2019.

The Director School Education Kashmir recently issued anadvertisement inviting applications for the posts of contractual lecturers fromJuly 2019.

We request to the Jammu and Kashmir Governor to lookinto the matter and continue the services of contractual lecturers, alreadyserving in various  institutions.
